An Loch Draíochta

bookcover

I wrote and illustrated this book in college, where it won an excellence award from Bord na Gaeilge for the development of Irish language teaching materials.

Bord na Gaeilge, now Foras na Gaeilge, is the national body responsible for the promotion of the Irish language on the island of Ireland.

Based on a traditional Irish folktale from Leabhar Sheáin Uí Chonaill, it tells the story, in the Irish language, of a small town without water, until one young boy decides to visit the faeries in the mountain to ask for their help.

An Loch Draíochta

Is mise a scríobh agus a mhaisigh an leabhar seo nuair a bhí mé i gcoláiste. Bhuaigh sé duais dearscnaitheacht ó Bhord na Gaeilge le haghaidh fhorás acmhainní oideachais.

An comhlacht atá freagrach as an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn ar fud oileán na hÉireann ab ea Bord na Gaeilge, anois Foras na Gaeilge.

Bunaithe ar shean-scéal as Leabhar Sheáin Uí Chonaill, agus scríofa i nGaeilge, insíonn an leabhar seo scéal faoi baile beag nach raibh aon uisce ann, fadó fadó in Éirinn. Níor tháinig feabhas ar an gcás go dtí go ndeachaigh buachaill beag na háite go Cnoc na Sí chun cabhair a fháil ó na síoga.
